DIAGNOSTIC DISCS 50 discs Code: DD 504
ITEST TRIBUTYRIN
for detection of tributyrin hydrolysis
Purpose and usage:
TRIBUTYRIN diagnostic discs are used for the detection of the tributyrin hydrolysis. This test differentiates easily some bacterial species, e.g. branhamelae from neisseriae.
Principle:
The hydrolysis of tributyrin is demonstrated by the change of the indicator color.
Technique:
Prepare a dense suspension (degree No.3 of McFarland scale) of the tested strain in 1 ml of buffered saline and add 1 TRIBUTYRIN disc. Incubate at 37°C. The color reaction will develop after some hours. Final evaluation is to be made after 20 hours.
Evaluation:
If the reaction is positive (Tributyrin+) the suspension turns yellow, if the reaction is negative (Tributyrin-) the color of the suspension remains red.
Warning:
1. TRIBUTYRIN discs are designed for laboratory use only.
2. Discs should be stored in a dark place at +4°C and should not be used beyond the expiration date shown on the packing.
