DIAGNOSTIC DISCS 100 discs Code: DD 502
1000 discs DD 5021
ITEST BACITRACIN H (10 I.U.)
for the presumptive identification of haemophili
Purpose and usage:
BACITRACIN H diagnostic discs are used for presumptive identification of Haemophili in primary culture.
Principle:
The test is based on higher resistance of Haemophili to bacitracin (10 i.u.) in comparison with other microbes, joined with the ability of Haemophili to grow in the diffusionsion zone of growth factors produced by Staphylococci.
Technique:
Inoculate swab from throat or other specimen on blood agar and plate it in the usual way. Place a staphylococcus line over the plated material. Place BACITRACIN H disc aseptically on this line and incubate the plate for 24 hours at 37°C.
Evaluation:
Bacterial colonies which grow after incubation in the diffusion zone of bacitracin in the vicinity of the staphylococcal line can be considered as Haemophili.
Warning:
1. BACITRACIN H discs are designed for laboratory use only.
2. Discs should be stored in dark place at +4oC and should not be used beyond the date of expiration shown on the packing.
